The TRAIL KIDS Fall Adventure Series consists of three trail running events on the single track track and ski trails at Wirth Park. This year due to COVID-19 we will not be having any large mass start races. Instead teams of 10-15 youth will be running the race as group. The final event is the Loppet Games event which teams will rotate to different activities to test their orienteering, strength, jumping, balance and running skills!
Adventure Run Races
Adventure Run 1: Wirth Pavilion/ Eloise Butler loop
- Date: Tuesday, September 14
- Location: Wirth Pavilion
- Length of race: 1 mile
- Race Course: This course will be on both single track and ski trails and will include some fun rock hopping along the way!
- Race Schedule: Each team will have different start times
Adventure Run #2 : Wirth Lake loop
- Date: Tuesday, September 28
- Location: Wirth Beach
- Race course: Start at stadium 18 ( take stairs behind Trailhead to an open field) and finish behind Trailhead building.

Adventure Run # 3: J.D. Rivers Garden/Tornado Alley Loop
- Date: Tuesday, October 5
- Location: Wirth J.D. Rivers Garden
- Race course: J.D. Rivers Garden to Tornado Alley Loop
- Race Schedule: Each team will have different start times
Loppet Games
- Date: Thursday, Oct. 14
- Location: Wirth Trailhead
- Activities: The Loppet Games this year will include a variety of activities that coaching groups will rotate to throughout the evening. Events will include the following:
- Date/Time: Thursday, Oct. 14 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Groups will rotate to various activity stations for competition activities ( see below).
- Location: The Trailhead, Wirth Park.
- Activities: The Loppet Games this year will include a variety of activities that coaching groups will rotate to throughout the evening:
- Station 1: Score- 0 orienteering course/ Apple Relays
- Station 2: Pavilion hill Run/Capture the flag Orienteering:
- Station 3: Obstacle course/ Slack line: Par Three grass area
Rules/Scoring System
The fastest three teams for each gender in each age category – U8, U10, U12, U14, and U16 USSA Age Classification: Youth are given points for the place they finish at each race event for their age category. It is based on their birth date. at each event are recognized for their efforts with ribbons/medals and other fun prizes! Series points awarded as follows:
- 1st place – 20 points
- 2nd place – 15 points
- 3rd place – 12 points
- 4th place – 10 points
- 5th place – 9 points
- 6th place – 8 points
- 7th place – 7 points
- 8th place – 6 points
- 9th place – 5 points
- 10th place – 4 points
- 11th place – 3 points
- 12th place – 2 points
- 13th and thereafter – 1 point
