Chuck & Don’s Skijoring Loppet

Ski with your best friend…your dog! 10 kilometer (about 6.2 miles), 5 kilometer, and 3 kilometer distances makes the Chuck & Don’s Skijoring Loppet a fan-favorite. Come watch if you’re curious or come to join the fun with your dog.

5K: Chuck & Don’s gift card prizes to the top three teams in this event. One or two dogs are permitted in this event.

10K: While open to all experienced skijoring teams, the 10K race is part of the National Skijoring Championship and is an accredited IFSS World Cup Race. This race will feature some of the best skijoring teams in North America. Cash prizes for the top three teams in the 10K race. Only one dog can be used in this event.

The best one-dog teams in the 10K will be crowned the one-dog national champions and one-dog Champions (awards for the Championship categories will be on Sunday).

There is no race day registration. Online registration ends on the Tuesday evening before the event.

Registration and transaction fees are nonrefundable, including in the event of cancellation. Registration is not transferable to another person or another event for any reason, including injury. Competing under another person’s name will result in disqualification.

A Note About the Data We Collect

Race Format

Skijoring teams will line up side-by-side and will start in waves with the front line reserved for those teams competing for the National Skijoring Championship and World Cup Race. 10K teams will start at 2:00 p.m. Medium and short course teams will start after. All races will start and finish at the Trailhead in Wirth Park.

Race Rules

Participants are responsible for reading, understanding and complying with published race rules prior to the event. Any changes or adjustments to these rules will be communicated prior to the race. Safety is of utmost concern for all and rules will be altered to ensure safety. No pulks, sleds or other carriers are permitted. Sit Skiers are permitted.

Teams will be seeded based on prior Skijoring Loppet results. Request for seeding by Skijorers with no prior race history must be sent to kevinmmurphy@comcast.net by Jan 18, 2019 to be considered for this event. Request must include links to publicly available skijoring race result.

All dog handlers must stand on the left side of the team they are assisting and must remain in place until all teams have passed. Do not attempt to move out of the way.

Parking & Transportation

Dogs are not allowed on the Festival shuttles, so Skijor teams and fans will need to arrange to be dropped off or find parking in designated areas and walk to the event start.
