Annual Meeting

Welcome to the 2020 Virtual Loppet Foundation Annual Member Meeting!

Due to COVID-19, the updates that would have been shared at the 2020 Loppet Foundation Annual Member Meeting have now been consolidated into a series of videos linked below.

We are so appreciative to you all for your support through this challenging year. If you are not a member yet, please consider becoming a member today to support the Loppet’s mission of creating a shared passion for year-round outdoor adventure in the Minneapolis area, focusing on underserved youth and families. We also greatly appreciate your donations to the Loppet Foundation.

Please join us on Oct. 30th at 5pm at The Trailhead for a socially-distant hike on the ski trails followed by live music on the patio in partnership with Mill Valley Market.

Despite setbacks from COVID-19, the Loppet Adventures groups (consisting of Minne-Loppet, Junior Loppet, and Northside Adventures Program for underserved youth in Minneapolis) have had a successful summer/fall and are planning to continue programming this winter. Watch the video below to hear from some of our coaches, including Greg Klave who started the Northside Adventure Program this year.

The Loppet Foundation has been providing programming for the children of Lucy Craft Laney at Cleveland Park Community School during the 2020 school year. The school’s principal Lisa Pawelak describes in the video below the impact that this programming has had on her students this fall.

The Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Park’s operations changed dramatically during the time of COVID-19. Watch the video below to see how we accommodated these changes and what our future plans are for Mill Valley Market, rental equipment, and tubing this winter.

2020-21 Ski Trail Passes are on sale now!

Watch the video below to see the latest updates from the Theodore Wirth Park trails which are maintained by the Loppet Foundation, including a special sneak peak into the 2020-2021 snowmaking plan.

Be sure to sign up for our next socially-distant Trails Day.

2020 started off big for Loppet events, so big in fact that it almost included the first Cross Country Ski World Cup on US Snow in almost 20 years! We also had the one of the biggest and best City of Lakes Loppet Winter Festivals to date! However, COVID-19 changed the way events are planned and executed at the Loppet Foundation and around the world. We shifted towards semi-virtual events and socially-distanced events throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Now, we are looking towards a winter of skiing AND racing too. Check out our latest plans in the video below for upcoming events, including the City of Lakes Loppet Winter Festival… and even a future World Cup!

More information on the Loppet Turkey Traverse 5K Run/Walk, our newest event mentioned in the video, is now available. To assist with the planning of a new 5K series, email Paul Johnson at johnson@loppet.org.

Despite COVID-19, Loppet Sport programs — including Loppet Nordic Racing (LNR), Loppet Cycle Works (LCW), Loppet Run 365 (LR365), and TRAIL KIDS — have had a record year! Participation has never been higher, and we are planning for that trend to continue into the winter as well. Find out more about what measures we took to ensure our program participants’ safety this spring, summer, and fall by watching the video below.

Winter registration is now available for LNR Juniors and LNR Adults programs. TRAIL KIDS registration will open on November 1.

Loppet Run 365, led by 4-time Olympian and 1500m World Champion Abdi Bile, just wrapped up its first year. Watch the video below to hear about the wide variety of programs offered through LR365 and how Abdi has been engaging the Somali community in the Loppet.

Our fiscal year ended on September 30 and we now have our official 2019-2020 Loppet Foundation Financial Report available.
